Web design portfolio

I love web design. I have been designing websites since 1997 and during that time I have gone through a number of phases and experimented with many different web design principles. Have a look at the previous versions of this website if you want to see the many concepts I've explored just for this site. In the past I thought that a good website was something that looked aesthetically pleasing but I have learnt that websites are so much more than that.

Today I see websites as essentially an interface to information. When we are browsing the web, a website is effectively what connects us to the information we are looking for. So for a website to work it must have two important things. The first thing is rich content; without useful information the site is empty and valueless. And the second thing is a good interface; if people can't navigate to information then the website has failed to do its job and is again, empty. The aesthetics of a website is not a separate thing but is part of the interface. When human browsers are considered, a good interface is always one that makes the user feel calm and at home. By presenting a visually appealing uncluttered design a person navigating a website will find it easier to use.
